Ladion of Sloed

The project evolved from structured AI tests undertaken over 2023. These tests explored approaches to creating consistent and standardised outputs with AI tools and images that exist within a coherent and expandable world. The tests have culminated in outputs including AI-created imagery, analogue collage, video, and sound. These outputs have been shown online and at research symposiums.

The project created a 48-page newsprint magazine with a limited edition of only 30 copies. The project's main objective was to investigate how modifying the format of images can make them appear more believable, specifically addressing the issue of fake news and how AI is being used in political news coverage. The chosen format and medium have been specifically selected to highlight how traditional halftone print technology and methods can visually represent truth and accountability, even when a machine has entirely produced the content.

All images are created using methods designed to achieve a consistent and repeatable look and feel, incorporating a cohesive use of mood, film stock, and camera model prompts while creating a consistent and believable geographic location and era. The resulting outputs are then used to build a coherent world based on real childhood memories. More images can be found on Instagram here.
